The Creative Indians_Season 3_Part 2 (Netflix)

Picking up from where we left off last week (check related posts). Here is a continued list of what I learned from episodes 6- 10 of season 3 of Creative Indians, a show on Netflix.


Episode 6: Aduna & Avan Contractor (Bblunt) – Hairstylists


1. Turn passion into an artform.

2. Seek out the different.

3. Learn by doing when there is no school.

4. Change and update training often.

5. Build foundation costs.

6. Teach on the job.

7. Be open to trying something new and revolutionary.

8. Develop discipline.

Episode 7: Bandeep Signh – Photographer


1. The camera is just a tool, take the time to see.

2. Discover what interest you by what you focus on despite others’ protest.

3. Images can set the tone of the story.

4. Shift perspective.

5. Combine creative acts (ex. poetry + photos)

6. Creating can be frustrating.

7. Take influence from the people in your life.

8. Evoke emotion through craft and technique.

9. Combine the real and the artificial.

10. Expires your desire to subjects.

11. Try unusual poses.

12. Inspire those younger than you.



Episode 8: Sourabh Gupta (Studio Archohm) – Architect


1. Use natural and artificial light.

2. Form Follows Function.

3. Branch out of your comfort zone.

4. Re-translate old works.

5. Bridge the traditional and the contemporary.

6. Mix old and new technology.

7. Work with like-minded clients.

8. Stretch the design process.

9. Unused projects can be repurposed.

10. Appreciate rare projects.

11. Exposer comes and goes.

12. Think differently.

13. Repair the old.

14. Economic struggles are out of your control.

15. Slow down and enjoy design.



Episode 9: Sammer Kulavoor – Artist/illustrator


1. Make sense of the world through art.

2. Be specific in what you do.

3. Explore mediums.

4. Look for big events.

5. Sometimes clients are lost – be their answer.

6. Styles can change.

7. Create limits.

8. Challenges can be enjoyable.

9. Factor in economy and culture.

10. Understand why thing look the way they look.

11. Step back every once and awhile.

12. Balance commercial and personal work.

13. Don’t be afraid to collaborate.

14. Create your own platform.



Episode 10: Taxi Fabric – Public Art Project


1. Take pictures of inspiration.

2. Share your insights online.

3. Make for different communities and cultures.

4. Execution takes the longest time.

5. Make friendships.

6. Overcome elitism – start your own studio.

7. Take complements to heart.

8. Work internationally.
